Who Am I?

I grew up having a passion and a dream to change the course of history. I don't think this is that odd or crazy, when you're young its expected that you dream big, and have an imagination that is beyond the seemingly possible.

It just seems that as you get older those dreams are left at childhood, and we are given to the mundane and mediocricy of life. I was talking with a friend the other day that said he had already done the big things in life. He has created a few very successful businesses, almost went pro in his football career, is happily married, and a wonderful child, and lives in South Orange county. But the passion and the dreams have faded from his eyes.

The most important aspect of life, I am discovering, is knowing who you are, your gifts, your talents, your personality, and soul. Most people lose their way, or never discover a passion in life because they are trying to be someone they are not, in other words they want to be someone else. This will only lead to confusion, frustration, depression, and lack of drive and passion in one's life. Please surround yourself with people who will speak into you and help you discover who you are, and then own that, be content with that, and stop trying to be something your not.

Knowing who you are allows you to put a practical context to pursue the dreams and the passions that make life worth living. Without our dreams and passions we are lost, desiring more out of this life but coming up empty every time. We have to hold on to our dreams, we have to pursue our dreams, because without them we have nothing worth living for and dying for.

As you grow up, and grow older, may your dreams become bigger, and may they usher in a life that you have always desired to live. And may you surround yourself with people who will help you discover who you are, and keep you accountable to pursuing your dreams.

We can change the course of history, we all bear the image of the one who created history and then changed the course of history. All of us long for beauty, love, community and harmony. My prayer and passion is to help people discover who they are and their place in beauty, love, community and harmony that will bring God's will on earth, as it is in heaven.
